<p>During a meal this week, celebrate the completion of another school year. Make a tablecloth out of homework papers and artwork and praise your child for months of good work.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: center;"><strong>Creative Activity &#8211; Tea Party</strong></h3>
<div id="attachment_3904" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 160px"><a href="http://familylifeplanner.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Week-3-003.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-3904" alt="May Blossoms Tea Party" src="http://familylifeplanner.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Week-3-003-150x150.jpg" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">May Blossoms Tea Party</p></div>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>This is the week our crab apple tree bursts into bloom.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Choose (or plant!) a tree, flowering shrub, or any type of natural beauty as the setting for your party.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: center;"> <strong>Family Adventure &#8211; Midnight Fridge Raid </strong></h3>
<p>Your kids will love to be pulled out of bed to raid the fridge. You may want to schedule this during Memorial Day weekend or another time when you can sleep in the next day.</p>
<div id="attachment_3892" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 160px"><a href="http://familylifeplanner.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/May3-002.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-3892" alt="Our basket" src="http://familylifeplanner.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/May3-002-150x150.jpg" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Our basket</p></div>
<h3 style="text-align: center;"><strong>It&#8217;s a Date! &#8211; Afternoon Picnic </strong></h3>
<p>Craving fried chicken for your picnic? Pull out the recipe card from the August week 2 plan.</p>
<div id="attachment_3893" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 160px"><a href="http://familylifeplanner.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/May3-001.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-3893 " alt="May3 001" src="http://familylifeplanner.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/May3-001-150x150.jpg" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">print transfer</p></div>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Several years ago, I came across this basket at a thrift store. I printed a <a href="http://www.graphicsfairy-diy.com/2012/03/transfer-printable-french-patisserie.html" target="_blank">design from graphics fairy</a> (use the regular not mirror view) and followed this <a href="http://matsutakeblog.blogspot.com/2009/10/how-to-transfer-inkjet-images-to-wood.html" target="_blank">transfer technique</a> to fancy up the top of the basket.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>

<div id="attachment_3902" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 160px"><a href="http://familylifeplanner.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Week-3-005.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-3902" alt="Swordfish with Pecan Pesto" src="http://familylifeplanner.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Week-3-005-150x150.jpg" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Swordfish with Pecan Pesto</p></div>
<h3 style="text-align: center;"><strong>Cooking</strong></h3>
<div> I marinated the swordfish in a tablespoon each of lemon juice and olive oil for an hour before cooking. The fish was delicious on its own, but we liked it served with warm teriyaki sauce as well.</div>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3></h3>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<div id="attachment_3839" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 160px"><a href="http://familylifeplanner.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/1schoolboy004.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-3839" alt="Your child's teachers" src="http://familylifeplanner.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/1schoolboy004-150x150.jpg" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Your child&#8217;s teachers</p></div>
<h3 style="text-align: center;"><strong>Holding Down the Fort</strong></h3>
<p>Oftentimes, lots of information is covered in teacher conferences and it may be hard for you to process it all. Use the Teacher Conference guide in your Planner to keep track of your conversation.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3></h3>
<h3></h3>
<h3 style="text-align: center;"><strong>Advice &#8211; Praise</strong></h3>
<div id="attachment_3888" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 160px"><a href="http://familylifeplanner.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Boy_Superhero_H.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-3888" alt="You're so brave!" src="http://familylifeplanner.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Boy_Superhero_H-150x150.jpg" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">You&#8217;re so brave!</p></div>
<p>Your child needs to hear how important he or she is to you, to God, and to your family. Tuck a love note full of praise under his pillow or place one in her lunch box this week.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Each month of the year has it&#8217;s own special appeal but I love turning my calendar to May! After months of winter, it will be great to sit on the porch swing, eat meals on the deck, and relax by the fire pit.</p>
<p>Use the <a title="May Week 1" href="http://familylifeplanner.com/blog/2012/04/may-week-1/">May week 1 plan</a> during the week of April 29th through May 5th. Try your Planner&#8217;s recipe for Cheese Enchiladas and host a Cinco de Mayo party, put your garden plans into action, or clean out a closet. No matter which of the activities your family chooses to try, you&#8217;ll be creating a tradition your child will cherish.</p>
<p>May 6th through May 13th, use the <a title="May Week 2" href="http://familylifeplanner.com/blog/2012/05/may-week-2/">May week 2 plan</a>. Run, don&#8217;t walk, to your calendar and mark  off some time for you to put your feet up and enjoy yourself in honor of Mother&#8217;s Day. If your family needs a little help with ideas, print a copy of the <a title="Bonus Goodies – Lists" href="http://familylifeplanner.com/blog/2012/08/bonus-goodies-lists/">Mother&#8217;s Day wish list</a> for them &#8211; they&#8217;ll appreciate the hints! In addition to exploring the faith focus of serving others (which moms model daily!), you may also like to help your child design a treasure box, go out for breakfast with your man, or enjoy a family bike ride.</p>
<p>The <a title="May Week 3" href="http://familylifeplanner.com/blog/2013/05/may-week-3/" target="_blank">May week 3 plan</a> (use May 13-19) invites your family to celebrate with an end-of-the-school-year party. You&#8217;ll also enjoy a midnight refrigerator raid, a may blossoms tea party, or a picnic for two (a great time to chart out plans for a summer trip).</p>
<p>Plan for a fun Memorial Day weekend with ideas from May week 4 (use May 20-26).  You may also like to help your child express thanks to someone, understand the value of money, or enjoy a beautiful piece of music. This week, cook with your man and invest a little time in your passion.</p>
<p>Finally, the Spring Extra week plan comes into play May 27-June 2. Invite your child to help make an ice cream cake, decorate a frame for a Father&#8217;s day gift, or plan a visit to your state&#8217;s capital.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: center;"><em>Enjoy Mother&#8217;s Day as well as every day in May!</em></h3>
